Who we are
ABEL operates the ABEL customer app, the ABEL Partner app and getabel.app. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact us at hello@getabel.app.
What we collect
Only what a booking actually needs, and we say why for each of them.
- Account details — name, email, phone number. Needed to create your account and to let your professional reach you.
- Addresses — where the work happens. Shared with your professional only after they accept the job; before that they see the area, not the door number.
- Booking details — the service, what you selected, notes, dates and prices.
- Payment data — handled by Stripe. Card numbers never reach our servers; we hold a token and the amount.
- Location — the customer app uses your approximate location to show pros nearby; the Partner app shares a professional’s live location with you only while they are travelling to your job.
- Photos — before and after job photos, and quote request photos you choose to send.
- Messages and reviews — your chat with a professional, and any rating or review you leave.
- Device tokens — to deliver push notifications, if you allow them.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To perform our contract with you — creating bookings, taking payment, connecting you with a professional, handling cancellations and refunds.
- Legitimate interests — verifying professionals, preventing fraud and abuse, keeping the platform safe, and improving the service.
- Consent — marketing emails and push notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting your bookings.
- Legal obligation — tax, accounting and record-keeping requirements.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it with the processors that make the service work:
- Stripe — payment processing. Stripe is the controller for card data it holds.
- Supabase — our database and backend, hosted in the EU (eu-west-1).
- Firebase (Google) — push notification delivery.
- Google Maps & Places — maps, address lookup and travel estimates.
- Resend — transactional and, where you have consented, marketing email.
- Your professional — the details they need to do the job: your name, address, contact number and what you asked for.
International transfers
Our database is hosted in the EU. Some processors above are US-based; where data leaves the EEA it is covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
- Account data — while your account is open, then 30 days after you delete it.
- Booking and payment records — six years, to meet tax and accounting law.
- Job photos — two years, as evidence in the event of a dispute.
- Chat messages — two years.
- Marketing preferences — until you withdraw consent, plus a record that you did.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Delete your data, where we are not legally required to keep it.
- Restrict or object to how we use it.
- Port it to another provider in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent for marketing at any time — every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe.
Email hello@getabel.app and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner in Malta.
Cookies
This website uses only what it needs to function — there is no advertising or cross-site tracking, and no third-party analytics cookies. The apps do not use cookies; they store a session token on your device to keep you signed in.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted by row-level security, so one customer cannot read another’s data and a professional can only see the jobs assigned to them. Card details never reach our servers.
Children
ABEL is not for under-18s and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we make a material change we will tell you by email before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
